I know this is completely off topic, but I know there are a lot of Texas, and southern hunters here. When my buddy and I came back from our texas hog hunt, we both remarked about how we wished we had one of them tower blinds like we hunted in, for deer hunting here in Indiana. Got on the net and looked around, but between the cost of the blind, tower, and SHIPPING, I'd have to 2nd mortgage the house! Anybody know where we could get good used ones, or a manufacturer, where we could buy direct? I've seen plans to build one, but I'm afraid the wooden models would need lots of upkeep, after 2-3 yrs. of our winters. A thought was just buying the fiberglass shell, then having the tower made here at home. You guys have any thoughts or suggestions?

VTDW, thanks for the repy. Gonna check them out, and if the shipping isn't to much, gonna get me one. Have you ever sat in one of their tower blinds? If so, are they pretty sturdy?

Most people just build them on-site. Yes they can get a bit dangerous if you don't keep up with maintanence.

Mad Dog...
I've got a couple of the Bylnd's pictured from the link VTDW gave you. They are extremely sturdy. I did just rebuild them this past year with the kits you can buy; new floors, hardware, etc. I've had them 10 years. They have the 10' towers. They are very nice blinds. I don't hunt much from them unless it is down right nasty but my guests sure like them. Buy the chair they offer and the off season windows. Owls can't get in through them. You will need a simple tie down kit to hold them in place against high winds. I use a cable on each leg to a screw in archor that sits right between the legs. It screws into the ground a couple of feet. Never lost one.
My wife has a small Coleman heater that she takes with her and there have been some mornings on the bow stand that I really envy her!

As I get older the enclosed blinds work well for me. Comfortable chair, wind mostly blocked, fannypack at my feet and handy, thermos jug if warranted.
Only problem is my bladder is much smaller these days which necessitates the bringing of an empty milk jug!

I did a lot of looking before I bought 9 elevated blinds.
The Blynd is a good one, but I settled on Texas Hunter Products. They use a new plastic composite for the walls also. Both would do you well where you hunt. I'm with KDUB, the older I get, I like that heater. Turn it on, sit back and watch the show. THP has a web site also. Ask for Bob

Ranch Dog, as always thank you for your replies. Been out of town for a few days on business, so am just getting back. You have always been one of the more informative and helpful people, I have met on the net. Charlie and I are going to check into those stands, the only thing that may hold it up, is the shipping.

Mad Dog, thanks for you kind comments...
I finally found Plastic Vacumn Forming's (http://blynd.com/) web site. These are the folks that make the Blynd and they call San Antonio home. I've always done business directly with them.
Here is their new camo Blynd.

Here is their chair... nothing for the owls or hawks to make a nest out of. A lot of folks will use old office chairs and them birds love that fabric! Nothing like a big hawk hissing at you in the dark!

and their gun rest...

When you come down next year to hog hunt, just take them back with you.

You'd be surprised how long a blind made of marine grade plywood will last. You can get 15-20 years, just paint it ever so often
