What kind of scopes do you 39 owners have mounted on yours? I like the smaller diameter scopes on lever actions becuse they don't detract (too much) from the nice lines these rifles have. Also, they look a bit period in that the trend today is large optics.

I have a period Weaver K4 on my '76 336, and will install a '75 Tasco 4x-34mm on my '81 1895 when it arrives next week. ;) I like the idea of aperture sights but haven't really researched them too much. I know that they work well on AR15's and that they are very tough and reliable, much like lever actions.

Back to the 39, Simmons has a nice line of small 22 scopes that I might look at. I'd be interested in what you guy's have found useful and workable on yours. I have and adjustable objective scope on another 22 I have and it is very useful and desirable for a rifle that can be used from short distances to longer distances.

A Leupold 6x42 that has been refocused (made parallax-free) by the factory to 50 yards.

This fits.... barely! The objective sits down actually between the ears of the buckhorn rear sight, but it doesn't touch.

Base and rings are pretty well standard Weaver.

Looks a little odd but boy will it shoot.
