Well i bought her brand new in the box, and still new and oilly, but i'll be honest i don't understand why it's a pre 64 would'nt it have to be older.

gravedigger,
What's the serial #? If it a Trails End, it isn't a pre-64.
Serial #2,600,011, reportedly the last pre-64 Model 94.

G'digger,
To answer your original question, I can consistently get three shot groups right at, or a little less than, 3" center to center at 100 yds. using sandbags and a solid bench rest. That level of accuracy can be had with several different factory and handloads from my 1962 carbine. I have a Williams Foolproof receiver sight and Firesight bead.
You have to realize that my 57 year old eyes can't cut the target nearly as fine as they once did. Careful shooting offhand at 100 yds. puts me in the 6"-8" range for three shot groups.
You'll find folks who can do considerably better than that and I know my carbine is capable of better. But that's about what we get as a team, me and my 94.
BTW, I don't think I know Muzzell, but I live in Laramie, WY also.

gravedigger,
When my vision was better, I could consistantly shoot my various 94s into 2" groups at a 100 yards, from a bench rest.. When I switched to reciever sights I didn't shoot better groups, just consistant ones. I never was near that good off hand.
Now I'd be tickled to get a 3" group at a 100 yards.
Maybe when I get new glasses.
The 94's can be picky, but mine were pretty user friendly. Other than replacing the original sights with a post front and aperture rear, I never did anything but trigger jobs on mine.
JOe
LOL.
I have a ten year old USRAC 94, Centennial. 26 inch half round/octagonal barrel, never fired until this weekend when I relieved Cody of it in a trade. I see why he thought neither of us was getting a screaming deal. Shot 2 inch groups at 50, 4 inch groups at 100 regardless of ammo, and liked to wander . Not to mention shooting high, the tang sight was zeroed for about 300, screwed in all the way. The buckhorn put it 3-4 inches high at 100.
Took the magazine tube out, shot 3 cutting at 50. Shot a few more groups, worst was 1.25 inches. POI was dead on POA at 50 with the flip up buck horn.
Magazine tube was putting a lot of torque on the forend and barrel. Don't know what I'll do about it yet. Try relieving the channel in the forend maybe, a dowel slightly smaller than the tube feeds in without binding right up to the action.
