I was a a local gun shop today, picked up a 30-30,and saw that he had a 336D with a leupold compact scope on it for $599.The dealer said a customer bought it and never fired it and traded it back with the scope attached. This guy is honest,I have done business with him for a long time, and I believe the gun is unfired.I thought i would post this as I know there are a lot of people who want one of these. The dealer is Beecrofts Shooters Supply,Schaghticoke NY.The dealers phone # is 518-753-4402 if any one is interested.

That's a pretty pricy sticker, but not totally out of reason, especially with the Leupold sitting atop it. Did you get a price sans the scope? I may be interested in the scope if he will part with it.

Considering the price of the Leupold scope it sounds like a pretty good price. Ya got to figure the price of the scope rings and mount are at least around $250.00. Snatch that puppy up before some one else does!

Ranch Dog,sorry no 444P's .....If I see one I'll let you know.
Went back to the shop today and it was still there,if it hangs around any longer I might have to rescue it!

Minus the scope, mount and rings you would only be paying about $250.00 for the new 336D. That is a steal.

I believe you have made a calculation error,
$599. - 250 = $349 which is still a heck of a deal, but let's keep in mind the Leupold is used or at best not NIB. The going price for a used Leupold compact -- depending upon which one is $150 to $200. including rings, or at least that's about the price I have paid for the last few I have purchased. If $200 that would bring the price of the 336D up to $400. Still a heck of a deal, especially if unfired with box and papers.

I based my price on a new Leupold compact scope and that one was new, not used. If high priced scope mounts were used (Like Warne), the scope, mount and rings could be over $400.00. But no matter what was used, this is a great bargain. The gun by itself is worth $500.00.

I should have asked how you were basing your assumptions. I'd say you are right. If it's decked out with all the equipment you disclosed it is a REAL bargain!

Picked up my 1967 336T 30-30 from the pawn shop yesterday. Has an older K4 on top with a post and cross hair. Cleaned it needs more cleaning though, litttle rust like color on the rags. Must have been sitting aloooong time was full of dust.
