Well theyv'e been around for 50 years and most of those are still in service from what I see on the web forums and what not. Granted most of them are livin' the collectable life now but a fair amount of fella's I know still give theirs a workout now and then. If every one on duty at the factory the day yours was rolling through the line kept both eyes open you ought to be O.K. I guess the fixed sights may find some ammo brands that won't hit to point of aim , but most single-sixes Iv'e encountered usually group pretty well wherever they do land on the paper.

here's my 2 cents: you have one of the finest single action rimfires ever made. very reliable and can show accuracy that is match grade with selected ammo.

Gravedigger,
Your little ss is a great plinker, but don't plan to go to Greece with the Olympic Team to compete with it! Reliable as can be, but the triggers on all the ones I've used have been truly terrible and I had trouble getting decent, 25 yard groups, even off a rest. Get a bunch of different ammo and spend some fun time with it trying to figure out which one your particular handgun likes. They're a barrel of fun; I've carted mine around for years in back packs and tackle boxes, and you can plan on handing it down to the next generation of gravediggers!

Nice little six-gun, got mine in 1974 as a convertable /w
extra cylinder for .22mag. I lost track of the number of bricks shot through that Ruger after a couple of years. Both my sons and several nieces/nephews learned safe gun handling with it as well. It's still a blast to topple 12 gauge hulls at twenty-five yards, (only now I have to use a bench).
My Six really seems to shine with Federal hp's, I get'm 550 to a cardboard carton at Walmart. Good price and good shooting. I might be a little spoiled as the pistol has adj. sights. But you definatly have a keeper.
