On the 3rd of this month received a message from PMC that there next batch of 45-70HA ammo is coming to completion and will be on the shelves in about 2 weeks. They made 250,000 rounds this batch.

Heard that this was good stuff!!
With only so few made, It will never hit the selves of Canada.
I doubt if every one inthe states will be able to purchase a box.
Why so few?

250,000 rounds is only 12,500 boxes.
Assuming each person that uses these runds buys 4 boxes, that's only 3,125 shooters. If you use them, you'd better stock up when you can!

Wonder why PMC is limiting the sale to so few in a batch ?If it never hits the selves up hear we never get to use it.
Then it can be said that sales did not warrant futher production. This happened with the 356and 375 rifles.
If ya never see's em ---ya never gonna buy some!

This is suppose to be there biggest run so far. They have been overly impressed with the popularity (demand) and rapid sale of these. Maybe they meant 250,000 boxes? In the message they sent me it said 250,000. I assumed rounds, maybe it was boxes.
Sent a message to clarify if 250,000 rounds or boxes.

Got a reply back from PMC they advised it is 250,000 rounds. They also advised the following for getting this ammo in Canada.
For Canada, they need to contact Bell Distributors, Ontario Canada, 905-820-7000 to find a local dealer.

Read very good things about the PMC +P. I will try to find article and post it. This guy also like the Garrett Hammerhead when you need BIG knockdown power.

Actually, PMC is using a Hornady 350 grain bullet, but it is not the Hornady 350 grain FN #4503. So it is a custom bullet made just for PMC. If you look at it it looks like Hornady is using the ogive and nose swage from their 300 grain hollow point and not cutting the hollow point.

Just wondering if this stuff would be a better choice for black bear over bait instead of the Remington 405 gr. or the other production brands like Winchester? Or does it really matter what load you shoot in a 45-70. I know this has been covered somewhere else but I don't reload and what ever I shoot this fall will have to be bought over the counter. What are my options I guess I'm asking?

Think I understand the question. Yes, it makes a great deal of difference to the shooter...the small variations in load data and velocity probably make up 75% of the traffic on these boards....but from what I can see, it doesn't seem to make all that much difference to the animal getting shot.

Sometimes I think it does make a differenceto the amimal getting shot I think. I took my fourteen year old daughter on a bear hunt which I described elsewhere. She took a shot at a good size black bear comming down to the bait with my 30-06 using my deer load Federal 165 gr. Priemium boatail type bullet. She rolled him over and he got back up at which point I shot him with my Rem 1100 open site using a smooth barrel and Brenike (sp?) slugs. I knocked him down and he got up and came at me where I shot him again and he turned off into the woods where I took another shot as he crawled off. I told my daughter to hold her fire as he was getting to close to me and with her inexperience (mine also) I did not want her shooting her dad by accident. We tracked the bear into heavy woods (Maine near Rangley) but even though we found alot of blood, fat and bone we lost our bear. I hesitate to tell this story because of the anti sentiment to bear hunting over bait but I want to learn from my mistakes also. One reason I bought a 45-70 guide gun and put a 2x7 Leupold on it. Now I want to use the right bullet for my gun(We agreed that I would shoot this time) and do it right this time I hope. I know shot placement is the most important to consider.
