I received my 290-grain LFNGCs from Marshall and the only receipe in LoadSwap uses RL7. I would like to use H322 and know that Marshall posted one but I can't find it. I would like to get these bullets worked up today and tomorrow for my 444P to use in a hog hunt next week and help would be appreciated.

Ranch Dog,
My load for moose hunting last fall using the .444 Marlin was:
BTB .432"-290gLFNGC/53.0g H322/WLRP/Rem Brass
Good, consistent load in both of my Triple-Fours.
EMail inbound your way.

From the posts I read, the moose didn't have much time to like or dislike it.... There is a short story and picture somewhere on this forum.
I've had a busy couple of days with my dad and about 5 p.m. yesterday we sat down at the bench and put together 20 of these bad boys. 10 with Reloder 7 and 10 with H322. We didn't have much time so my dad operated the turret press and I dipped and threw powder. I pretty much always let the dippers determine a starting load and work up from there.
For the RLD7, I used the data information in Bill McConnell's "Pressure, Velocity, and the 444 Marlin" (http://www.beartoothbullets.com/tech_notes/archive_tech_notes.htm/44). The closest I could get to the low end of those charges was 48.5 grains of the RLD7 and that was by using the old red 230 Lee dipper.
For the H322, the 3.7 dipper gave me an exact 51 grains of powder. Both loads seemed like a good starting point as both these loads would be shot at higher ambient temperatures than these other fellows had experienced.
I shot the RLD7 first as I figured the pressure was less. It took me a lot longer to get on paper than I thought because these loads shot a lot flatter than the load for the cast Lee bullet I've been shooting. I used to many rounds trying to get the bullet on paper, and will have to try again.
Dispite winds of 17 gusting to 29 mph but pretty much lined up with the range, the H22 performed very well. I only ended up shooting 9 of those rounds because we where out of time and the women folk where expecting us to cook steaks. Even with shot 8 being a flyer, I wish I had shot the last 5 at a PMII target. Shot 1, 2, and 3 & 4 were shots adjusting the scope to deliver!

I will load up a batch of this exact load for my hog hunt next week and fine tune the load at a latter date... Beartooth 290-grain LFNGC... 432" R-P Brass trimmed to 2.555" with Lee Case Trimmer CCI LR Primers 51.0-grains H322, 3.7 Lee dipper OAL 2.7" with Lee Factory Crimp Target shot at 100-yards, 70F, and a gusting right crosswind component of 6 to 10 mph.
With reference to Bill's Tech Notes, the expansion of my cases was as follows: Reloder 7... .4682" H322... .4688"

It's looking like Mr. Piggy is in DEEP trouble! Thanks for the report.
Surprising how flat that bullet shoots isn't it? You'll soon experience the authority it yields downrange on target as well. :)
Good stuff!
