I finally found a scope mount that would attach to the barrel of my Mossberg 500, now the thing is I want to get a scope. I want to get something good, but nothing like fog proofing or the fancy stuff, and I as don't want it to be over 80 dollar or so because I heard the movement of the shotgun is more than a lot of high power rifles and the scopes don't last very long. So I would like a target scope that would be good for shooting up to 150 yrds. Not expensive but good. Any suggestions?

Cardboard tube from paper towels, two rubberbands, and some Glad wrap, just kidding . In your price range go with a Bushnell Banner , most major retailers have them for 70-80.00 dollars and they'll either last you your lifetime or crap out on you after a season or two , send it back get a new one . You take your chances with the $100.00 or less crowd.

Hey I was also thinking about the Bushnell Banner, I saw it on a gun at Gander Moutain, I liked how it looked, the view was good, the zoom was good, i think its up to x9. But ya if thats a good one then I was thinking about it.

I don't want to sound like someone telling you what to do, but I would go with the Leupold and never have to worry again. A Leupold is for life. :D

If you can't go over 80 bucks, why don't you consider looking for a used scope. Expecially one that comes with a lifetime warrenty. Look at different sites that offer items for sale. E bay may also be helpful. The gun shops I frequent often have used scopes they get from trade in's. This way you may be able to get a higher quality scope at a more reasonable price. Hope it helps.

Hey, I just got a scope today, no great name brand but I like it, its a Redhead 3-9X40 shotgun scope, I think its a simmons since Redhead is Bass Pro's brand name and the scopes are usually simmons and bushnells. But ya I like the scope, its clear at all distances, at least thats what it looks like out the window, and also clear at all zoom leaves. I guess it should hold up, it looks really tough, I will find out soon when my cantilever mount comes in and I get it all rigged up at the gunsmith's. They offered to put the mount on, scope on, and bore sight it for 20 bucks. Is that good. I think it sounds reasonable.
That's about average.
we're talking about 15 minutes of work for a competent gunsmith.
