Nice-looking rifle; which caliber are you getting? I've heard good things about the Rossi, but never fired one. I got into single-shots recently and have 2 H&R/NEF's -- One in .223 and the other is .17HMR.

Sure looks a lot like an H&R to me!

I've owned several Rossi revolvers which I have been 100% satisfied with but this will be my first Rossi long gun. I have heard nothing but praise for these ss rossis, and the price was right, AND I heard NEF/H&R had discontinued production of any new rifles in 357 mag chambering so... I ordered one in 357 Stainless steel. They do look similar to the NEF but are proportionately a tad smaller and about 1.5 pounds lighter which is a plus in the 357 mag. I'll let you know how she works as soon as a range test is completed.

Just looking at the pictures I'd go for the H&R/NEF, but then I own several of those and have never held a Rossi, but I know the H&R/NEF are made in the USA....

Just FYI. A friend of mine just bought a Rossi in .17 HMR and we were looking in my parts bin to see if I had a Weaver base that would work. I happened to have a Leupold base for a TC contender and it fits almost perfect. The holes are perfect and the screws are correct, you have to shave a couple 1/100" off the rear edge to fit as the receiver is a tiny bit above the barrell and the mount just hangs off a tiny bit. About a 2 second job. Really makes a nice looking mount. I'd bet other TC mounts would work.
