Would like to know what average shooting distance, and longest, is for general meat hunting in the interior. Will most likely be in the Tok/40 mile country at first, with some sniffing around the southern Brooks west of the haul road. Most of the country I've seen when there (on the roads mostly) was pretty thick with some medium open areas here and there. I have a guy re-barreling my .375 Whitworth and it probably won't be done very soon.(caught him during a move/house building) Would rather wait for him to do it and know it's right. Next in line is the 45/70 with heavy loads. I can hit pretty well out to 200 yds with it. The Browning 45/70 carbine is the carry all year gun, but didn't know if I'd regret not having the 375 for "hunting" if shooting would tend to be longer. Thanks for any input. Am accelerating my "retirement" plans and will be up looking for land to buy/move this summer.

Every spring I hunt bear outside of Tok for 2 weeks. Average shots are around the 100yard mark, give or take. This year I havent decided if I want to take co-pilot(45/70) or my 35whelen.
