I was loading some 45 ACP last night and I loaded 50 rds. with 230 gr. winchester FMJ and 50 with 230 gr. Berry's MFG RN. The winchester came out fine, but the Berry's had what looked like a second crimp. The case was crimped just fine, but right above the case crimp was a ring all around the bullet. Looking like another crimp. Is this because Berry's are solid copper or is something setup wrong.

A question.
Do you seat the bullets in one step then crimp with a second step?

I seat and crimp in one step. I loaded some 40 S&W lastnight and didn't have any problems with the same bullet manufacturer.

It is possible that there is a slight variation in the contour of the bullet and the actual seating stem is causing that extra ring on the bullet.
I don't load any jacketed pistol bullets. I've learned to take the seating stem and drill and polish out the cup portion so the bullet is seated by pushing on the front driving band of SWCs.
You may find that taking your seating stem and chucking it into a power drill and using some fine grit emory cloth to polish the inside of the seating stem. It's possible that breaking the edge of the stem to a radius/ taper may solve the problem.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to try and reset the die first. I might have just been having a bad night
