I still have the Remington Fieldmaster pump that my folks gave me in 1950. I had it scoped then with a Weaver G-4. Now my eyes are not what they used to be and the G-4 doesn't gather much light so I bought two new scopes, one a red dot optical and a Bushnell variable. Problem is that the receiver is short and curved and will not accept a standard scope mount. My gunsmith is still trying to figure out a solution. The old Weaver had a side plate mount and I'm wondering if any manufacturer makes one with rings to fit a new scope.

A simple solution is to get a peice if aluminum angle about six inches long. place it along side the receiver with one leg over the receiver. and the other one along side. pick up the mounting holes in the receiver in the side leg, and trim off the excess. trim the top leg to the same width as the receiver. and locate the centerline over the bore, and tap for a marlin 1894 base. Paint the aluminum with Alumahide and bake. It should give you a base that will last the life of the gun.

Look at a weaver mount for a Browning auto 22. It mounts on the barrel and comes back over the reicever. It might work on the remington.
