Ok, so thanks for those who chimed in on my caliber question. The Potlatch gun show was good to me, and I now have a nice 700BDL in a .223.
So for good accuracy and coyote popping ability, what bullet weights do you guys prefer? I am leaning toward a 55gr.
I am somewhat partial to Hornady, so probably a V-Max.
What do you guys shoot??

I shoot V-max's in both 50 and 55gr. They both work well, and I can't tell much difference. The 50gr bullet is boattail and is a bit easier to load. Either one is a great choice, IMHO.

I used to shoot a .223 remington and while the V-Max's were pretty good, I had better luck with Nosler Ballistic Tips, particularly the 50 grain weight. favorite load was 25 gr of Accurate 2015-BR with CCI BR-4 primer. That was the 2015-BR of several years ago, so if you try it, be sure to start lower and work up gradually. I have heard that current lots of 2015BR are faster burning than what it used to be. My .223 was a Savage with a 1 in 12" twist. That may be why it shot better with 50 gr bullets than 55 gr. check the rate of twist on your BDL, if it is a 1 in 9 or faster, it should shoot better with the heavier bullets, if 1 in 10 or slower, the lighter (shorter) bullets should group better. I also liked the lighter bullets for the increased velocity and more dramatic impact on targets at closer ranges.

Well I decided on the 50Gr. V-max's. The 55's are a little heavy for the majority of the work I put them too. I was going to do TNT's, but caught a better deal Through NatchezSS on the Hornady's. Either of them are bombs waiting to go off! I can't bring myself to try Noslers, After my 25-06, and 243 experience I don't think that the accuracy is up to par with Hornady/Speer.
700bdl's have a 1-12 twist, but I can shoot 60's with acceptable accuracy, they definitly aren't as good, but for the price of free.......
