I would like to buy a Marlin 94 in 357 that will hold ten in the tube. I do not want a cowboy version.
Well the new 94 C with it's 18 1/2 barrel hold 9 I believe.
Noe if the rifle would hold ten 38 Spl. and feed them I would be content.
I n the past were the 94's equiped with a 20" tube?

The 1894C holds 9 357 magnums, or 10 38 specials. I've heard of some 1894C rifles that had trouble feeding some 38 ammo, but I've had two, and both of them fed 38 HPs or SPs without any problems at all.

Other than the current cowboy version,Marlin has never made an 1894 .357 with a 20" barrel, which is about the minimum length needed for getting 10 rounds in the tube.
Like Jerry said,If you want to get ten rounds in a standard carbine, you have to go to .38 specials. If you stick with round sided FP bullets(not semi wadcutters which can hang up on the bullet shoulder as it enters the chamber),the gun should feed them pretty slick...........

I don't think that ten full-length mags would fit in the tube and allow enough room left for the required mag spring.

What I trying to do is find a rifle that will hold 10 rds in the tube and fire 38 Spl.
It seems there is some question on the forums as I have been reading . Though my trapper winchester 94 will, there seems some confusion since alot will not feed 38 Spl.
Then I am also reading that some of the Marlin 94's will not feed 38Spl.
So--- I can see problems having 38 Spl and 357 at the loading table,. Something is going to get a 38 Spl. and it going to jama fire arm.
It seems save to load 44 Mag in a rifle since ther will then not be confusion. Then how does the Marlin 94 do with the 44 Mag since my trapper will again will not hold ten in the tube?
Some where I need to trade a otherwise good workin' rifle.

The 1894C "will" hold 10 38 specials in the tube, and other than maybe getting an odd one with some kind of mechanical problem, they'll feed 38 specials very reliably from my experience.
I've had two 1894C 357 magnums, and they both feed 38s perfectly, even SWC bullets. I've also shot a few other guys 1894Cs, and all of them also fed the 38s with no problems.

Why don't you want the Cowboy? It's the best one Marlin has. Of course I've noticed this year they shortened up the barrells, the best is the 24" barrell they no longer sell. That's alright, I already have one.

With the m1894C, you can load 9 .357 rounds in the magazine, work the lever to place one in the chamber, and feed another round into the magazine.
Now you have ten rounds loaded -- nine in the mag plus one in the chamber.

I do this with the 94 Winnie but this is frowned on at the range.A safety issue. To throw in a round when the tube is empty works but eats time. Hense my quest for a solution , without spending 1200.00 Canadain for the CB version.

One might try a little work on the spring, a few coils and also the plug in the front of the spring a new one could be fashioned out of aluminum for a thinner overall length maybe enough. Most oft these rifles can be made to get ten in them. You may try modifying the front plug for a thinner wall also, you never can tell, this has intrigued me also, but I have the CB with 24 inch bbl and notice that when one is in the chamber and the 14 rds total that last one comes up a 1/4 inch too long to get the 15th one in. Might just have to remedy that if I can. Have lathe will tinker. I too have had no problems with the feeding of 38s in my marlin.

Harry, Is this for a match? I dont shoot matches so I have no clue. I can tell you that the 1894C 357 mag that I have will shoot 38 Specials with no problem. I have never fully loaded the mag tube so I cant even tell you how many it will hold. When I have hunted with it I never used more than 5 rounds in it. But it will feed 38s.

I had some correspondence with U.K. Neil over this, I think if you modify (shorten) the plug in the tube he said it would hold 12. Send him a PM and pick his brain, I think he had a solution for you.
