Does anyone out there have a scope on their low wall or High wall. If so could you post a pic & let me know what set up you have? Thanks

Here are my 1885 Low Wall and Hi Wall. The Low Wall has a Winchester scope, and 30" false muzzle barrel, and the Hi Wall has a Lyman Targetspot 10x scope.

Where do you find scopes like that???
Is it costly to have those scopes mounted-i.e.-mounts?

I pick them up from other shooters, or at gun shows. The scope on the Hi Wall was on the gun when I bought it. The Hi Wall was special ordered from Win. with no sight dovetails, so it was intended to be scoped. It was also factory drilled and tapped for target style scope bases. It has the extra heavy #4 weight barrel, and is chambered for .22LR.
The scope on the Lo Wall was offered to me at a gun show for $30. As mentioned it is a 8x Winchester scope, and came with Winchester bases. I drill and tap my own guns, as I have a jig and a mill, but they can be done without the mill, if you're careful, and know what you're doing. A gunsmith will usually charge about $50-$60 to drill and tap for target bases.
These scopes vary greatly in cost. The small type, like my Win. 8x sell for $100-$150, while the Lymans start about $300, and go up to about $500 for a Super Targetspot in 25x. Unertls are even higher priced. JW Feckers, or Litscherts are down near the Lymans, maybe a bit less. Some of the small Wollensaks, Marlins, or Ranger scopes, which are similar to the Win. scope, are under $100, but most are 4x.
I collect old scopes, so I'm always on the lookout for them.
Hope this helps.

Red, what kind of rear sight is that on the rifle to the far left and how is it mounted?

KenK,

It's a Williams FP-1885 receiver sight. Mounts to the tapped rear scope mount holes that come with the rifle.

I love single shots. Not only are they just fantastic rifles but they also just look so darn good. I know you have probably seen those paintings of some guy or indian with some old rollingblock and a scope as long as the rifle. Well, I really like that look. This is the way I set up my Ruger #1's.

These old scopes have as fine of optics as you can ask for. And deadly on prairie dogs in the next zip code !

It's a Redfield scope. I have another one around somewhere if you like them. They are variable and very sweet. They are simply a one inch scope. The Ruger Varmint model comes with blocks. I would be surprised if blocks aren't available for your gun. Then it's just one inch rings.

Here's another example of a long "old" scope. They are all cool but I think the sleekness of the Redfield really adds to the lines of the guns. This scope is a BALVAR or Bosch & Lomb Variable.
