14 had a go...still can get the barrels and bullets from some custom makers.
Guess the little 2.7mm Kolibri (tiny semi-auto pistol)from about WWI could count..that worked out to about .105cal. and the bullet weight was a little less than 3grains.

The 2.7mm kolibir is freakin tiny! Heres a pic to give you an idea how small it is...

From left to right...
2.7mm (~ 0.10")
4.25mm (~ 0.15")
.45 ACP
.577 Revolver
It puts out an astounding 2.8-3.5 ft pounds of muzzle energy...just for comparison a 22LR puts on average anywhere from 100-150!! You would probably be better off throwing pencil lead at somone! :D

Those little tiny things centerfires or rimfires or centers? i wouldn't mind having a gun that fires them... just as a novilty and maybe some paper punching, anyone make something for them? just wondering... what in the **** was that little 2.7mm good for anyways? other than making pin holes in paper? any info on that .577? looks like it could be fun!

Those little things were centerfire...using a long obsolete tiny little primer. Guess the object was to have a round proportional to the little Kolibri pistol that fired them (truely a tiny little gun)...sort of the same idea of having the biggest and baddest, just in reverse.

I think throwing a lead pencil would be more affective too!

After all these years, it's still noted as one of the smallest (THE smallest of production ammo) rounds created. Considering all the other odd ball guns and loads that have sliped into the past without a ripple of memory, they did what they set out to do.

I have always liked the way "Cartridges of the World" describe the use for the 2.7 Kolibri auto, not suitable for use on any game, but "might do to dispatch a trapped mouse or eliminate an overly aggressive cockroach."
