I have series 3 ivory polymer grips that I would like to fit my Beretta Stampede which I understand is a series 1 frame. They are significantly oversized, but I am willing to file them down. Two problems. Series 1 grips have that 3d piece that fits inside the frame. I suppose I could try to epoxy something in there. Second problem is that the top of the grip seems too long. I think that one would look allright if sand and file a little bit. Any good sources out there?

Well PP here is to answering my own post. Found a website www.pistolgrips.com which has a specific page for the Single Action Army. conhttp://pistolgrips.com/Reference/SAA%20Reference/saa_reference.html. Problem for me is that they don't recomend 3rd series grips on a 1st series frame. I hate the original Beretta plastics grips (among other things they melt when exposed to Gun Scrubber) so I plunged on ahead. First thing I noticed is that the front part of the grip was about 1/4 inch too long. When I filed off the front edge, the back edge of the grips started to make a reasonable fit to the back strap. Had to also change the front angle of the grip a little for some reason. I then fashioned the inside block out of a plastic electrical box cover (after first testing it with Gun Scrubber), and with lines drawn on the inside of the grips epoxied the blocks to the inside of the grip. Some 5 min epoxy helped me build up the bloscks in just the right places so I could get a real snug fit. Rest was a matter of using 120, 320, and 600 grit sandpaper to sand off all the high spots. (used red electrical tape to cover the gun) Very happy with the final result.
