hello all, im in the market for a new varmint rifle, and ive been looking at the savage model 12 low profile in the .22-250. i was wondering if anyone has experience with this gun, or opinions on a better rifle than this one. also ive been looking at the bushnell elite 3200 5-15x40, and the weaver v-classic 4-16x42 scopes, and comments on them? thanks a bunch guys.,

I've been pretty happy with my .223 short of the work I had to undo the stuff that the previous owner had done to it(not the guns fault) Everything I have read about varmint rifles lead to savages. There is some debate between the .223 and .22-250, the biggest being the cost of the two rounds... the best i've seen the .22-250 was at .25 per round, compared to the .11 for the .223. I've also heard that the cost is hardly noticible if you are reloading your own rounds. They are certainly one of the most reasonably priced guns around. I dont' know anything about scopes, so I'm no good there...

happy hunting...

ya, i think i want the .22-250 because of the capabilites of longer range, but the i do like the .223, and i honeslty probably wouldnt be shooting much over a couple hundred yards usually, so maybe i should consider the .223.
