Do I need to change the barrel band when changing from a stock barrel to a bull barrel?

New bull barrel won't fit the existing barrel channel in the stock...will either have to re-inlet it or change to a aftermarket stock.

Either way, the barrel band is usally left off (as Ruger does on their version of the heavy barrel).
