Well I've decided to take my 1943 Winnie back off the rack for another year of use. I think this year I am going to go back to shooting lead bullets. I would like to load Meister 165gr bullets. My question is... Without slugging the barrel, should I choose the .308 or .309 diameter? Anyone with experience? I'll check Loadswap for data, but I'd like to use a moderate to light load just for plinking under 100yrds. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would consider .309 a minimum. You want the bullet to fill the throat if possible to prevent leading/gas cutting. I size my bullets with a Lee sizing die that began life as a .309, and I have since honed it out a bit larger and I get good results.
