I just got a new single six in 22lr/22mag and the accuracy is very poor. After adjusting the sights to center on target it will only shoot 6-8" groups rested at 30 yrds. I tried about 8 different ammo brands. The only thing it shot decent was some old 22shorts I had in my bag. Any thoughts or tips would be appriciated.

Well, it 'should' be capable of one-third of that.
By any chance, is this your FIRST Single-Action hand-gun? I'm not referring to shooting a DA revolver in SA.

I think it might be your grip on it. Try maintaining a very consistant grip, rest your forearms instead of the gun, and follow through when you shoot(like with a bow).

If what the other two guys says doesn't work, bundle that baby up (after calling Ruger!) and send it back to them with all the details on what you've done and the ammo you've tried. I've found them to be very responsive. There may be a problem with the alignment or registration to the barrel.

Thans for the tips. I have shot other ruger sa revolvers but all in larger calibers. 44mag,45colt 41mag. All of them exhibited excelent accuracy. Iwent and got some other kinds of ammo (including some match) that im gointg to try this weekend. If it dosent do better I will call ruger and see what they say.

I tried different makes of LR ammo in my SS and found CCI Velocitors did very well. Magnum rounds "suck". The best for my gun (which really wasn't bad) were Remington Premier 'green tip'.

Well i shot it again this weekend and no luck. Still shot 6-8 in groups. It also was leading the right side of the frame reallly bad. I took it back to the store where I got it and they are sending it back to Ruger for me. Said it would be 4-6 weeks before I get it back. Hopefully they can do something with it. I really liked shooting it.

Sounds like it's got a timing problem for sure. I really hate that for you.

One things for sure though! I bet when you get it back, it'll be one heck of a revolver. Usually when you return a Ruger, they make sure it's a very sweet gun when they send it back to you.

Yes, you WILL get back a nice revolver. That's for sure.

It sounds to me like there's a bad alignment problem between the chamber(s) and the barrel.
