View Full Version : little brother came home today
My Model 444 now has some one to talk to at night.Brought a M92 in 454 home today.Neet little guy.I must be honest although. The Marlin 444p sitting next to it looked very nice .I held it until I was told the price. Then I said "let me hold that Puma again".I bought a box of Winny 300gr's to try next to my 444 with 300gr Speers.I 'll report in Saturday. That's the the first chance I'll have to get them babys some excercise.
I'll just have to scrach that finger untill then.

Bit by the levergun bug! That can be a terminal condition you know :D
Sounds like you've got a pair of really nice rifles.
Congrats. Is the Puma a stainless or blued model?
Take care, and God bless,
Marshall
Yea I guess I'm bit but good.I bought my M444 over thirty years ago at the tender age of 15.I took some heat back then. All my friends had magnum bolts and never could quite understand why I liked this one so much. How things have changed. My 1970 edition is goin strong, the magnum bolts are gone, and it seems like everyone wants a BIG lever.I just wish the good ol day prices hung on.I bought my 444 NIB for $115.Spent $350. today for the Puma.I had a hankerin for a S.S. carbine but settled for the 20in blue job. That's all I could find in stock. To tell the truth if I had to order it ,I probably wouldn't have. But once I handled it,I got bit again.Does feel nice.I have a feeling the sights arn't going to be on there long. This one doesn't have the firesights. They need improvement.I'll come up with something.I hope.

I love Puma 454...the front sight had to go, and the action can really be slicked up if you are into that sort of thing. I think John Taffin or Paco Kelly put out some tips on what could be done if you are interested in looking. If you have trouble finding itleeme know and Ill see if I can pull up the links from my PC at home. Congrats

Marshall, No offense intended as I am waiting with baited breath to see what you did with those Model 92's that you have been playing with...HINT HINT. I ordered your book the other day and am anxious to get a chance to read more about fire lapping and all that wonderful stuff. Thanks..LIV
