If you use 38special dies on .357's, all you'll have to do is readjust the expander (move it up so it doesn't over flare the longer case) and readjust the seater die (also moved up) so it doens't try to over crimp the longer case.

Most dies are now made as 38/357 dies....they are designed to work wiuth both.

Older RCBS .357 seater dies are too long to crimp .38 Special. The newer ones are labeled for both cartridges.

Can 357 dies be used on 38 Special? Or vice versa?? You need 357 dies for this trick. You will need to add a .100 spacer ring for belling and the final bullet crimping/bullet seating die. If you add the spacer there would be no adjustments to the dies going between 38 special or 357 magnum. Set it up using the .100 spacer while using the 357 mag. Then if you want to load 38 special remove the spacer (the dies will seat everything .100 lower) and no adjustments to load 38 special. Note: If you buy the 357 mag set the ring is in the RCBS case.

Just an FYI ............you can also add the .357 max into the mix of cartridges that can be loaded with 38/.357 dies.
