Now, all of this may support the theory that the female is the stronger sex, but what does it say about which is the smarter sex?

Won't go near that one, DOK - not with the wife hovering over my shoulder!!! :D

I'm sitting here nodding, along with all the other single Dads.
It's not a gender-specific thing. It's about being a good parent. Sorry if I don't bow and scrape to all the mothers out there, but no one has a monopoly on good parenting. My ex-wife is nowhere close to the parent I am, and she knows it. My kids know it, and I know it because they tell me so!
Sorry to ruffle any feathers, but stereotyping always hacks me off.

What are beets?
Aussie,
Beets are these awful things, red in color and the taste slightly better than vomit coming up. No one should have to eat them.

Jack, I would assume "rink burgers" are hamburgers sold at ice skating rinks? (an uneducated guess)

You're correct, DOK. While they may not be a balanced diet, most Canadian parents survive them. Actually, the local rink burgers are better than the big city fast food burgers. More beef, much less "substances of unknown orgin".

I suspect that if you're tough enough to live in Alaska, you're tough enough to eat beets!!

Mr. Alyeska,
I truely take you at your word, but kinda wonder if the old adage "everyman has his price".......suppose the rifle of you choice, or how about a all expense paid trip to Africa? Where do you want me to send the first truck load? :D
Mr. Gun Runner,
At our age, the temptations I can think of (using myself as a 66 year old guideline) may not be enough based on your established history of groumet abstinence. Got any suggestions that we can print here?

DOK,
You are right, everyman has his price, and I've got mine. But you'll have to do better than an either/or proposition. I'll take a Holland and Holland Best double, say 470NE, lots of engraving filled with all sorts of precious metals. I would carry the rifle on the year long safari you book for us both. How could I not include the gentleman making such a generous offer (besides you are paying for it). Send the first truckload of beets to a fella named Dan in Iowa. He should be back there sometime in June or July. :D
What a nice gesture, you are a nice guy!!!

Dr. Atkins (as in Atkins diet) says I can't have beets.....or much of anything else for a while, so why don't we get the trip started and follow up on the beets. My wife says a year would be just about right. I'm assuming by that she means it will give her time to add several rooms on to hold all the trophys?
Dan "not quite that generous"

How's this---- I don't have grandkids.I don't even have kids. I don't like kids or grandkids, even if they belong to someone else. I have been married to the same wonderful woman for 19 wonderful years and we are prefectfully happy by our selves doing what we want to do when we want to do it. I'm sure having and raising kids is very tough, especially with all thats going in the world today. WE chose not to have kids and that's our right. For all you people that CHOSE to have kids please DON'T WHINE ABOUT IT. Raise them the best that you can,but don't try to make me help you raise them.( at the grocery store, movie theater, ball game,etc.,etc.) Take care of your kids, love them, help them to grow up to pay taxes like my wife and I do. Teach them enough respect for themselves not to beg for one penny of welfare. Good luck. Stay safe.---pruhdlr P.S. My wife and I both work and together we paid over $800. to OUR government in Fed. tax. P.S.S. I'm NOT whineing !!

I grew up on pickled beets and still love them. I grow a garden each summer and plant a couple of rows of the buggers. My mother cans them and we split them half and half.
As for my wife and daughters.....well, they won't get close to them. Pity.
