A year ago I purchased three Bushnell 1.5 X 4.5 Banner's (http://www.bushnell.com/productinfo/riflescopes/banner.html) for my Marlins from D&R Sports (http://www.dnrsports.net/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=DSC&Product_Code=BSN711545&Category_Code=scopesbsn).. I've really enjoyed shooting and hunting with these scopes and even added a fourth after my wife decided she wanted to replace the Weaver K-4 on her Savage M99 takedown with one. The level of performance has been outstanding with one exception.
After a few trips to the range, I noticed that the scope I had mounted on my 444P did not have very audible "clicks" to the elevation and windage adjustments. I also thought that the movement of these adjustments did not feel as "crisp" as the other two scopes. I wasn't sure if may be I hadn't caused the problem as I put a tiny amount of lube on the threads of the turret caps after I had one cap corrode in place on another brand of scope. May be I had gotten a little of the lube into the elevation turret. I decided to continue to shoot the scope as is because it's performance was normally except what I've noted.
I've shot several thousand rounds through the rifle without any problems but the quality of those adjustments has always bothered me. I recently started to shoot a wide range of bullet weights in preparation for a hunt and Postal Match II and noticed that the elevation wasn't truly responding to the 1/4" MOA adjustments. I decided to take the scope off the rifle and send it to Bushnell along with a letter detailing the problem and a sample target tracking several movements of the windage and elevation. I did have the scope from my M336 sitting on the shelf as that rifle is at a gunsmith being rechambered for 30-30 AI, so I mounted it on the 444P and went hunting.
I shipped the scope on the 16th of March. On the 25th, I received a postcard stating that Bushnell had received the scope on the 23rd. Yesterday, April 3rd, I received a new scope. The Banner series has a lifetime warranty but you must include your check for shipping and handling in the amount of $10. With that fee and the shipping for my damaged scope the trade out was $14.90. I'm very pleased with the service I received and suspect I should have brought this to D&R' or Bushnell's attention when I first received the scope.
