Anyone ever heard of one ?

My dad bought this gun for his mom when he was 19 years old, he is 50 now. She gave it back to him last night.

What is wrote on the barrel is
ROHM MODELL RG10
CAL 22 SHORT

It's a very small , 6 shot,double action revolver, that you had to spin the cylinder and load one bullet at a time.Has white plastic grips and a blued frame.

Just wondering if anyone has any info on this gun. I don't care if its worth anything or not, the sentimental value of it is priceless.

Cringe!! An Rg, haven't seen one of those in years. Massad Ayoob did a write up on one of those around a year and a half ago in combat handguns if memory serves. May have been one of hte other gun rags...
The quality was ..um... different. It's an alloy frame and would go out of time in a speedy fashion. But better than not having a gun at all.
The imports of these were killed off by GCA '68, these were one of hte "saturday night specials" that Kennedy and company were so adamant about.

As Whirlibird pointed out, these guns have not been imported since they were banned by GCA '68 in the aftermath of the Pres, Kennedy assasination, so I assume it was a used gun when he bought it.

If there were ever any guns which deserved being banned on the basis of "it is only good for shooting people" this is it! Enjoy it as a part of family history, that is all it is really good for. Rohm built some inexpensive revolvers in the 60's era which were OK for the price, but the RG-8/RG-10 series was not it.

Yes, my dad got it used. He actually traded a 289 Hi-Po motor for it. He got it for his mom because she was working a night shift and he was worried about her. That was around 1972.

I knew it wasn't valuable, I just wanted to know some information about it. The gun will nwo stay with me until I have kids and they are old enough to have it.

By the way, I know it probably isnt the smartest thing to do, but I discovered you can cut the tip off of a .22 LR and shoot in it.The shells still fall right out, so I know they aren't causing pressures that will cause problems for the gun.

Tang, the blue book list them at around 40-50 bucks. The one I had would fire 2 rounds every now an then, one down the bbl and one along side the bbl. (a real experience) gave mine to a cab driver in Norfolk VA, cause didnt have fare to get back to the base. Never even missed it.

would a F.A.B. be the same price. My step dad gave me a RG10 cal 22 short but it says F.A.B. on the oppisite side of the RG10????

I have one in 22 LR. I don't remember the model number. It is the stiffest trigger I have ever felt on any gun. After shooting a few cylinders full, I could barely pull the trigger any more. Read somewhere that that was a free feature of this gun.

They look pretty nice from a distance but if they are not Saturday night specials, they are junk.

Those guns were designed for the 22 short standard velocity ammo only. I had one. Dont shoot 22 lr in it, not even high speed 22 shorts. The best place for it is the bottom of a lake somewhere.

Unfortunately they are not heavy enough to make a decent anchor. I'd suggest getting rid of it or put it in one of those little glass boxes with wheat and grain and dried flowers for decoration, but don't shoot it.

Had a fella when I was younger had one double and durn near shot his other finger off that he was holding around the cylinder to help steady it. Cylinder was out of line a little also and sprayed lead into the palm of his hand. When he got out of the emergency room the gun went to the bottom of the Clearwater River. Everyone called him deadeye after that. Don't know why he was so touchy.

Mine is labeled RG23 and is stamped 22LR.

It shoot s okay if ya can pull the trigger! But you have to be strong not to also pull the shot.
