I just read the thread about having to shoot the Lab.
While I agree it was too bad, it did remind me of a story my Dad told about dogs and chickens.
There was something getting into the chickens on the farm my Dad grew up on.
He and my uncle's took turns staying up with a flashlight and a shotgun.
Dad heard a commotion outside, went out, and heard noises in the henhouse,
so he squatted down, bent over, and looked into the henhouse with the flashlight in one hand
and the shotgun aimed like a pistol in the other.
When Dad squatted, his union suit flap popped open.
Their dog, Zip had followed dad out, and he put his cold, wet nose right in where all the warm smells were.
Ka-Blooey!! Both Barrels!!
About twenty Barred Rocks and White Leghorns didn't slow down #2 buck very much.
They ate chicken for a week or so.
