Hahaha...I was in a sporting goods store yesterday and I saw this shirt that said on the front "Bass fishin Redneck style" and on the back showed these guys in a boat throwing dynomite and explosives in the water. :D

It's called a Hercules Spinner. Also works with a glass jar with a pinhole in the lid and a little carbide (the kind for acetylene lamps).

General Motors HEI coil and a nice piece of antenna cable works well also and is very quiet.

This is what I have heard but have never tried it,
take an old rotary phone, drop the reciever in the water, then dial away

My father said that when he was in Korea in the months just following the truce, that they had a problem with the little Korean kids stealing the phones to use as "fishing tackle" :D

Have the old crank generator from a field-phone. Grandfather mounted it in a box and would connect the leads to two long iron rods. Would find the worm bed, dampen the ground, drive the rods in, connect the generator, and crank. Worms would come up out of the bed and we'd pick them up rather than dig for them.
