I got three product announcements from Ruger today and I'll try to post them all at once, or, if I can't, one at a time.

it seems as if the lawyers and politicians in California and MD are dictating rugers product "improvments". the only good thing is the new mag release.

Monty,
The sad fact of the matter is that the lawyers and politicians are dictating product improvements for all arms makers, including those who build 'em off-shore for import to the US. Our only solution is to fire the lawyers (or make it unattractive to bring frivolous law suits to the courts) and elect politicians with a more enlightened view of the gun issue.

gunwriter: i gotta agree with ya. it's not just ruger, and it's our fault too for letting all this happen. i'm saddened by rugers willingness to turn their best selling firearm into a "politically correct" handgun, at the expense of those of us that have no wish for it. i'll be looking at the Buckmark for my next new .22 handgun.(unless Browning also caves in)

They can take that magazine disconnect and shove it up their "windpipe." I wonder how hard it would be to deactivate that feature... I wouldn't do that on a CCW weapon or any self defense weapon, but a hunting/plinking .17, I may chance it. I won't have a MD on my carry weapon, and I won't have it on my hunting/plinking guns either.
To be blunt, IMO Ruger is just a bunch of PC wussies. There is no cry for MDs and too many semis out there do NOT have this feature, so lawyers did not make them put that feature on, they did it because they wanted to. I'll blame the lawyers for the locking device, but you cannot blame lawyers for everything, and the MD is one of them. Everyone is having to put lock out devices on it seems now days, but as I said, there are too many semis out there that do not have MD for that to be a lawyer mandated item. JMO.

Thank God all of my firearms are "old technology". A manufacturing change that prevents a gun from firing when you might need it to save your's or someone else's life can hardly be called an improvement. Thank the maggot lawyers for all of this. I'll keep what I have, thank you, with the exception of an occasional revolver purchase..
God Bless John Browning's 1911...
