View Full Version : Opinions on .416 Barnes??

Does anyone have any first hand experience with this caliber in a lever action? How does it comapre to the the 45/70? Do the cast bullet manufacturers offer a bullet in the heavier cinfigurations? All opions are welcome.

I have been thinking of chambering one of my 1886s to the .416 Barnes. The .33WCF barrel should be an easy bore and chamber job. :D

Thanks guys. After viewing some of the data, bullet availabilty, etc., I don't think the .416 Barnes is for me. Maybe the .50 Alaskan, or maybe just stay with my 45/70. Other than some pretty bad fouling, it has given me few problems.
