This is a true story.

I was in Tell City, IN on Wednesday April, 21st. A local gas station had a sign posting the real prices of gas.

Unleaded: Arm

Unleaded Plus: Leg

Premium Unleaded: First Born

I thought that pretty well summed it up.

There was one shown on Jay Leno a couple years ago that read:

Regular Unleaded - $1.899
Unleaded Plus - $1.949
Super Unleaded - Bend Over

The media said the rise in gasoline prices was due to a $0.70 increase per barrel of crude.

1 barrel = 33 gallons

~40% of 1 barrel is refined into gasoline, so 40% X 33 gallons = 13.20 gallons

$0.70 / 13.20 gallons = $0.053 increase in the price per gallon

Rise of gasoline prices in my area > $0.50 / gallon

Yep, slick willie got away with a whopper, and not the kind he stuffed his face with;
compare the number of refineries before and after he took office, and you'll see why the US can't make enough gas fast enough. I guess the joke's on us....

If we don't get more local refining operations open, the prices will only rise further. The Saudis, you know the ones who finance the terrorists and the schools that produce future generations of terrorists, are considering shipping refined gasoline to the US to meet demand as we cannot. This is due to lack of refining facitlities, as SFT pointed out. Refineries and power plants and oil drilling have become unprofitable, if not impossible, with the regulations that are now in place.

Sorry... it's supposed to be the Humor section, but the effect on the economy isn't really that funny. :) This is something that has effect on everyone who drives a vehicle or purchased anything not made in their hometown, provided they buy it directly from the source.

The saddest part is, I live a few miles away from two major refineries in Wood River, Illinois that have been shut down, too little profit for Big Oil, foreign Oil is cheaper than paying american workers. How sad.
