Hello all,

I,ve been reading about the new 17 cal. mach2 rimfire ammo coming out. I can't clarify from the reading about the type of gun this ammo will be used in. The case size is the same as the 22LR. Does this mean that it can be fired in 22LR guns. Non of the articles have come right out and said what type of gun can be used. It would seem that this ammo is being marketed for this purpose but they haven't been real clear on this. Maybe I've missed some info in the articles?

I means that twenty two rifles can be rebarreled to 17 cal and chambered to the new 17mach 2 cartridge :D

Pretty much any rifle or pistol chambered in .22 LR can be rebarreled for .17 HM2. You cannot shoot the .17 HM2 in a .22 LR, well, at least you shouldn't. If you did accuracy would be terrible as the bullet would litterally rattle down the bore and the case would be blown out and may even split. If it did split, it could release gas back into the action and into the shooters face. Most likely though it would not split, just be blown out straight. Sort of an expensive way to make .22 LR cases. ;)
