I have and old Redfield scope on a 700BDL in 30-06, both of which had been my father's before he passed on. The scope is a 3-9x with a wide-angle eyepiece and is adjustable on the front for 50 to 1000yards. The problem I'm having is that the field of view is slightly out of focus, and I don't know where/how to adjust it. There are two knurled knobs near the front bell, and one near the rear, but neither will turn by hand and I don't want to force it. I'll probably end up taking it to a 'smith, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

The old Redfields were sorta cranky to turn the adjustment rings on - stiff from the factory and always seemed to stay that way. Your father probably set them at one setting and never messed with them again. They probably have taken their own set by now and may be difficult to turn, however, they WILL turn. Just a small drop of a light lubricant at each ring while trying to hand turn might free them up. Don't use any wrenches on them.

If that doesn't work, I've got the address of a good scope repair guy in Tulsa, Ok.
