Hello,

I am getting started in Cowboy action shooting and wanted to use Ruger Vaqueros. However I wanted an early Colt look without the original Colt price. Do you all know of anyone who does any removal of old markings on a gun and replace them with historically accurate Colt look alike markings? I was interested in Army markings on a couple of 7 1/2" barreled pistols. I wanted to keep the guns as stock as possible so as to keep them like what a soldier would have been issued.

Thanks!

Not sure who does it (I did remember reading an article about it a long time ago) Found this web site that tells you what markings are accurate for what year.

If you are looking for a Colt type pistol with "history", try looking at Cimarrons pistols. They offer a couple of repros that you may like. They have a 7th Cav. replica and another one that recreates what was used "back in the day".
