just kicking around the thought of someday replacing the stocks on my Puma M92.The questions I don't know the answers for are..
Is the Puma M92 an exact replica of the winchester 92,are the stocks interchangable(so I've been told)
Are the '92s interchangeable with the '94s(stock wise)
Not that it needs it,just a thought.I have been looking over the stocks on line.I see more '94s and they "look" the same. Most sellers respond"it should".Well "should" isn't"will" to me.
Thanks

docd,

The Pre-64 Mdl 94's and the Win 92's use the same basic design stock. The upper and lower tang area is the same design, but the differences in the main spring designs may cause the need for fitting. Winchester did change the upper tang design slightly after 64.

Will Mdl 94 stocks fit Rossis. Yes, with some fitting.
I tried the stock on my 1950 Win 94 on my Rossi Puma and it would have worked fine with fitting up at the wide part of the upper tang. Fitting would have been required on the bottom of the stock for the coil spring set up on the Rossi.

Hope this helps, I looking to replace the wood on my Rossi too. Both the stock and forarm were cracked when I got it. Gun was NIB, but long out of warrenty.

docd,

Will do. Been watching eBay off and on, but haven't found what I want, with a bid level I can afford.
Theres a place called Precision Guns Works http://www.precisiongunstocks.com/ that makes almost finished stocks. I've read several review on other forums that say their product is very good. But I am not very good at wood finishing.
Might give them a try though.

I have been looking on ebay and other auction sights as well.I put a bid on the '92,' 94 new Walnut forearm stock,$19.95 seems like a good price. My Puma is the M92 454 so I'm sure that(new) stock will need some modifications.I do have friends who are good woodworkers with the tools to do this if I can't .The funny thing is ,my Puma's forearm is pretty nice,it's the butt that is a little too plane for me.That dark stain they use forces one to change both.Besides I like the look of walnut better.
