I am considering purchasing a Springfield Armory Long slide. Any one who has owned one please advise.

i have the 1911 in .45 acp mil-spec. it is a great gun and fun to shoot. the only problems i have had is using cheap ammo and jamming empty cases in the ejection port. i hav eshot colt and kimber 1911's and for the money the mil-spec is just right

Hi Seven, if I may ask, what's your purpose with a long slide?

I've never owned 1 myself, but have seen them used competitively.

just curious

OK, Gents -

It's time to ask everyone to back off, settle down, take a few deep breathes and to respond to each other as the gentlemen you are.

We run a nice, friendly board here and will allow no flamming, abusive or derogatory comments toward one another. We can get our opinions across in a respectful manner or disagree with the same respect you would appreciate.

Thank you for your consideration.

gil,

No experince with it but do with the older AMT longslide briefly. The do have a longer sight radius and barrel hence highter muzzle velocity. Down side is very limited holster selection. As Zig, asked what role are you looking for it to serve?
