I made a post on Greybeards web site about what barrel length to get on a new S&W 629, 4" or 5". Some of the guys that replied said the price I quoted, around $600.00 for each gun was about a $100.00 too much.

I live in the Atlanta, Ga. area and all the 629's I have found have been priced around $600.00 or more.

I was wondering where you guys bougth your 629's and the price you paid.

If I can find a better deal I will buy it and have it shipped to my FFL dealer.

Thanks Bill

In Hampton, Virginia I saw a 4" 629 for $559. Thought that wasn't a bad price. 4" Taurus M44 was $414.

You may luck out and find one significantly cheaper than $600, but 550-600 seems like a decent price. Not a great price, but decent.

You might check some of the on-line auction or gun sales sites for a better deal. Auction Arms, GunBroker, GunsAmerica are 3 to check.

Last summer, I bought a new 629 8 3/8 barrel (not the classic) for $590.00 + tax

Lists S&W 629 for $547.

They do mail order.

500 to 600 isn't a bad price it depends on where you are living and what store you buy from ! by the time you go through your dealer and he collects his money for the deal it will cost you the same ! Look for a used one many people buy them but can't shoot them and so sell them at a loss ! I wouldn't buy any mag. pistol with a barrel shorter then 6 inches ! JAGG
