Heard from my son at midnight last night. He and his unit from the 1st AD were sent to Kabala to talk to a certain Shiite and his malitia. I am a little confused as to when, but during a battle that occured yesterday or the day before, he took some shrapnal in the thigh from a grenade. Apperantly a militia member started tossing grenades and got himself blown to bits. My sons wounds are very minor (he has two small pieces in his thigh) he was told they are not going to remove them at this time. He continued fighting and made Fox News report this AM as he was the one who detonated the IED's they found, put in a hole, covered with C-4 and blew up. Sure glad he got to call us before we heard it on the news. Guess he will have a purple heart when he comes home.

Randy...
Sorry to hear about the events centered on your son and hope that the good Lord will offer some relief and safety to him and his brothers in arms. I also pray for mom and dad... I just can't begin to picture what you are going through.

Sure-shot,
Glad to hear your son is alright. Probably not as big of a deal to him as it is to your and your family. I will never forget my Dad standing in the drive way crying as I left for the military. I couldnt understand it at 18, God I do now. No matter how old your son gets he will always be your little boy, the little guy you took fishing, taught to ride a bike ect. Please pass on to him how proud I am of the job he and his fellow soldiers are doing. God bless you and your family.
