Hello to the list,

I am trying to refurbish my grandfathers old Winchester Mod. 37 Single Shot shotgun. The lock up is fairly good vertically but the barrel is out of line horizontally...leaving a gap on the right side between the breach end of the barrel and the reciever. It can be corrected by moving it by hand, but won't stay there. So, it needs a to have some work where the barrel meets the main pin of the frame to make the barrel sit right. I wouldn't bother with the gun except that it is a family heirloom, and I want to hunt with it and I want my kids to hunt with it. My gunsmith here in Central PA wont touch it.....but he did mention Simmons Gun Specialties in Kansas(Spring Hill or Olathe?). Has anyone had any shotgun work or otherwise done by them? I would appreciate any input. I apologize if this post is in the wrong place....just seemed like chances for an answer were a little better on this board. Thanks a bunch. Sincerely, Chris Cash

I think that someone associated with that shop, by the screen name of simmonsguns, is a member of the forum.

I don't know if they do gun work, but I know that they are one of my Distributors for my Firearms business.

hi guys, simmons gun repair has been in buisness for almost 60 years, the vent rib started it all,me installed them for winchester on the model 12 and than for the model 42.along with building custom guns for 6 presidents and our own line of quails fargo shotguns,at one time we had 65 gunsmiths working here.if it shoots we can fix it.95% of our work is from out of state,we have dealers all over the country, everything from repairs to restorations,100% accurate copies of show pieces, and out custom built barrel sets for trap and skeet shotguns in any gauge.custom re-bluing,color case, plateing, coatings and our law enforcement and millitary contracts.because of the volume we do are prices are lower on some work, with the economy the way its getting,i try to work with people on what they want and what they can afford, dealers get 20% off labor.we are in olathe kansas, the warehouse is in springhill kansas, all work needs to go to olathe,we can pick it up in springhill but we only go there 1 or 2 times a month.if any one from this site sends me work, let me know before and i will get better pricing first and let you know.thanks for the post, sorry i rambled on.
