Which way does the cylinder release go? I know a S&W goes forward and a Colt goes back. Somebody asked me and I told him it looks like you push it in, but I'm not sure. There's always somebody in the class that likes to stump the instructor, and no one at the club has a DA Ruger. Thanks.

They press in, Jack, instead of sliding forward or backward.

Thanks, guys. Wonder what "Stump the Expert" question I'll get next?

It's as if the gun makers TRIED to be different...forward, back, in, and down (Dan Wesson). Right hand twist, left hand twist...clockwise rotation, counter clockwise (and notice the rifling twist direction varied according to the cylinder rotation in S&W and Colt).
Go back in time to very early models, and you'll find Colts that rotate counter clockwise and S&W's that roatate clockwise.
Sometimes, they just seem to try to be obstinate.

With my luck it would be Whitworth or Metric Thread. :D
