I just want to verify if this is true, I saw it on BBC the other day that this year would be the time whether they are going to declare that assault rifle is going tobe lifted. Is this true? And which state would be considered "GUN FRIENDLY"?

For clarification...
Unless the US Congress extends the so called assault rifle ban the current law will lapse.
Unfortunately the firearms that the so called assault rifle bill affects are semi auto rifles that look like assault rifles. Assault rifles are full auto rifles, machine guns with box magazines, not the semi autos.
Basically the law is based on looks, this rifle looks like a machine gun, not reality. If our Congress can pass this sort of law, a law based on looks, it would not be a great leap for Congress to pass a law that all blue eyed, balding, pointy nosed men should be banned because they may commit rape and murder.
Virginia is a gun friendly state. Virginia has to be gun friendly since Virginia is right next to Washington D.C. and the former capital of the Old Confederacy.

Texas and Nevada are two of the most gun friendly states in the USA. I've also heard that Vermont is, too.

Indiana is very gun freindly in my experience.
Arizona is a very gun friendly state, I don't think they allow the "steal me racks" in the back windows of trucks though.

Texas is about as relaxed as they come.

Alaska is gun friendly. We do have our share of liberal gun grabbers, but they are mostly ignored by the general populace and legislators. We have long cold winters though.

Vermont is very gun friendly. Though if the d$mn Flatlanders from NY, Mass, and NY keep moving in there's no telling  . Sean

Florida ain't to bad. We have huge reciprocity on our concealed carry. No registration. Not to bad. (Sad that what should be taken for granted is considered "not to bad")

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I can see that there is a decreasing number of states that are still gun friendly. We should be living in those states to maximize the use of our freedom. I asked because i lived in California in 2000 and its really hard not seeing what you guys are experiencing there.
I am not in the Philippines and its much worst here. During elections we have a complete gun ban declared by the comission on elections but there are alot of individuals who violate this law and would even carry M16 rifles on pick up trucks. As law abiding citezen I dont bring out my gun. But working in a surgical ward i have seen an increase in gunshot wounds , mostly made of handmade 12 gauge birdshot or buck shot. Multiple stab wounds and hacking is also very common here. Crazy people here!!!
Its still much better than Israel or anywhere in the Middle East.

haha i shouldnt bother sicne you all know, but NYC is pathetically horrible.
i'm going for my pistol permit when i turn 21 in october, but i happened to be upstate looking at rifles and saw the pistol i plan on purchasing when i get my license (H&K USP .40). so i'm talking to the guy behind the counter (gander mountain - really hugggee store and huge gun collection in middletown, ny) and hes like oh would you like to see it. so of course i say yes, and then he asks for my pistol permit. apparently you cant SEE or TOUCH a pistol without a permit....
i don't know maybe it was always like that but i really dont remember. eitherway its ridiculous.

vermont is very gun friendly, can carry as long as you have
no felonies
There do seem to be a lot of liberal flatlanders moving in
as Lone Eagle pointed out, had one speak to a guy at my
local store here complaining that she saw my 1911 as I
bent over. Jeez. Strikes me as the type that would want
to ban spoons because they make people fat. :)

I'm not sure I would call Michigan gun friendly, but we are a shall issue state. Even our liberal governer had to admit (reluctantly) there was no increase in gun crime following the shall issue legislation. There's still plenty of opposition, but the facts just don't support any more anti-gun laws.
