How well dose W748 meter through the Lee perfect powder measure? I want to use it to reload for my 223.

I like my Lee Perfect Powder measure but I must admit that ball podwer does leak past the drum and it does get a little grabby. I try to only use extruded or flake powders in this measure.

Ditto Mr. iorg's statement -

The ball stuff and powders like H110 tend to leak out of the drum sides (I keep a towel on the floor under it when using such) but the other types do pretty good. Some have reported accuracy in metering problems, but mine is always within .1 gr +- for any powder used.

Thanks guys! Can either one of you suggest a better powder for a 223? It is an ar.

Varget is my top choice of late for my .223. Not sure what bullet weight you're using, but squeeze in as much Varget as the case will take and use a standard primer.

My load for the 52 gr Speer is 27.0 gr.

AZ...

Remember that the drum tension is adjustable on the PPM. I use W748 through mine without any problems.

Another vote for Varget...load it hot too! The stuff seems to shoot MUCH better in hot loads with small cases.

I favor IMR 4198 for my .223 needs, The Lee measure has no problem with it either.

H335 is my choice in both 222 & 223 with 40gr bullets takes a case full as is slower powder in both cases. 3500fps in 222 and 3600fps in 223 both average under .5 at 100yds. The 222 has 18.5 barrel (600 mohawk) the 223 has 22" barrel. I agree the tension screw is the key as use H110 and H335 both ball powders with no leakage
