Me too! Why didn't the .356 take off? It's a great round, well suited for leverguns, and has enough case volume to make up for the need for flat nose bullets, still, it's on it's way out. The most power I can get out of my Marlin 336 .35 rem is 2200 fps with a 220 grain bullet, and that's flat out max., but factory .356 loads add some 400 fps and another 300 pounds of energy, and yet it doesn't seem to be making a (modest) comeback. Did the .35 Whelen take care of the gap between the .35 rem and .40 caliber and larger cartridges? And what of the .348, .358, .375?
I ponder these things as I drool over that .356.

I ponder that stuff too SFT. I bought a set of 356 dies I found, NIB real cheap. I thought it might be a sign something was about to happen.
