View Full Version : trapper vs ranger compact

I am looking to purchase a 94 trapper in 357 mag and would like to know the fine points of this gun vs the ranger compact in same cal.?? the specs seem to be very close but the price is about $50 more for the trapper?!?

any insight on this price difference would be appreiciated.

The difference is in the wood. The Trapper has walnut furniture and the Compact has some sort of hardwood. Other than that they are the same.

Check the website for spec's, but I also think the Ranger Compact has a length-of-pull that is 1" shorter than the Trapper's.

The Ranger Compact has a one inch shorter length of pull supposedly as a youth rifle, but you'll be surprised how well it shoulders, and how you can adapt to a short butt. I have very long arms but I appreciate the short handy length, no problem.

I bet it does shoulder well. especially if hunting in a heavy coat in cold weather.
