meob,
The little Henry's are fine for casual target (plinking) and survival type hunting, but keep your expectations low as far as accuracy is concerned. They were never designed to be highly accurate firearms; they were built to be handy to carry, tough as nails, and a last resort for the carrier and possibly not surviving in a desperate situation. The triggers are very rough, so it's really hard to get a very good idea of how well made the barrels are. If you want a "kickaround" rifle, they're just fine, but don't go thinking you can shoot with the bench rest boys with it, 'cause that's not what it does best.

meob,
Don't have any experience with the current production Henry's but did with the older Charter Arms AR-7. Used mine backpacking, canoeing, as a truck gun and hunted Texas jackrabbits and foxes. Did have a scope mount for it but didn't use it that much for it didn't allow for storage in the butt stock. Had several 8 round mags and there was a 15 round mag available. As far as accuratcy goes it was minute of rabbit at 25 yds and 50 yds for fox. Mine was finicky on ammo as far as realiability goes. It prefered the CCI Minimag or Stingers for 100% feeding. Everything else would have feeding problems. Hope this helps.

Agree with gunwriter...I have had one for about ten years. It is fine for the purpose intended but will never be a benchrest rifle nor was it designed for that either. Rough, tough, and portable it is. Throw in a canoe or camper yes.
Very functional for purpose intended. Sights are a mite crude for my taste. It is finicky on ammo. My $.02
