Too late in the spring for that now - black flies and green-up are what's stopping me. I'll start up in October. Nice to think about though, isn't it?

I scout all the time, spend a good amount of time in the field, its my passion, love to watch the sun rise and set in the peaceful setting of the woods, good get away from the hussel and bustle of the suburban life, right now I'm turkey hunting for Toms;) Gobble Gobble, I only work four days a week, so i get friday-Sunday off, fridays are really good for hunting, due to most people are working, I have the whole woods to my self;) I put enough bug juice on me to choke a horse, Turkeys sense of smell is very weak, near none, due to the pungent berries and nuts they eat, but there eye sight and hearing makes up for it. Jumped a small heard of deer near my stand a few days ago, good to see them hanging around my stand;) man the ticks are bad, found about ten ticks on me last time I went out, they never get to dig in on me, because I feel those darn things as soon as they start crawling on me, I wear a bug suite as well, but they still get in bye your sleeves and bottom of your paints, I hate them :)
Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

Yup,I've been scouting,I just put my first mock scrape out and it's been hit already.I'll have a pile of these going strong by the end of july and then I let them be untill september.I've also got a 25#+ tom turkey with triple beards and the long one is draging the ground, feeding at my bird feeder every morning.Too bad we can't hunt in town. :(

I was at my hunting camp during the week. I saw lots of fawns. The Black flys arent too bad, but their is enough:rolleyes:. The skeeders bit me bloody. Im just glat to see good numbers after that nasty winter.

well I suppose wv is actually n the south east I guess but, whitetail down here are actually just starting to group toghether in thier little buck bunches and are all still in full velvet have seen several nice bucks and yes the skeeters are bad. Have seena ton of fawns and some huge does as well. I fired up the old crushed corn feeder that draws the deer in off of the neighboring land for me . (cheating I guess) I dont run it past oct, though . I usually put out about 400 pounds of crushed corn every year they get used to coming around and I seem to be forgotten to them works well.

I've been havind real good luck with the mock scrapes and there all on there own now.I've seen two real large bucks hanging around all in velvet that look awsome.I also have two fawns without a mother that I've been helping along by giving them a bit of cracked corn with a vitiman mix in it.Sometimes I wonder if this is a good or bad thing.I don't think they will make it through hunting season.I'm going to start harrasing them pretty soon so they will fear the sight of humans.Any suggestions ? I am suprised the coyotes haven't gotten them so far.Oh,well.Turkey's are doing well here, lots of them in the woods. :D

Well I said before I know that W.V. is below the mason dixon line but, all species are common to you are common to me and I heard before that fawns must reach 70 or more pounds in order to survive a good winter if not they will be part of the winter kill. I need to do some more scouting soon I havent seen to many deer this year on my own farm as I live thirty miles away and have been too tied up with work and recreational activitys and such.I have noticed just the other day that bucks are starting to hang around the does more as I have seen several bucks in the company of a doe or two.As to suggestions for the little ones keep feeding them as they must attain the 70 pound weight limit or they will die from the winter this is your only alterrnative to their preservation . One other thing is you could get a few predator calls and go coyote hunting and thin them suckers out in your area of the woods in W.V. it is a endless season on them .
