While visiting relatives the other day, I was looking over their gun collection. One was a single shot Hopkins & Allen shotgun. It is a lever operated falling block and appeared to be a 12 ga. Cosmetic condition is not good, but seemed to be solid mechanically. Any idea of the time when this model was made? Is there any collector interest in these guns? Any information is appreciated.

They did make a big falling block `12ga. in the 1890 - 1908 bracket (no one seems to be more exact than that). Haven't seenthem getting real high prices...toe-tagged in the $175 - $300 range depeding on condition, but I've never seen one in anything but "well used" condition.

Is a true falling block, and looks to be strong...but the recievers are closer to today's definition of "iron" than to "steel" so sheer size isn't a good indicator of strength.

Definately not after 1917 as Hopkins and Allen went bankrupt and were sold at a sidewalk sale to Marlin Rockwell.
