have the old square barreled 22L about 19 in barrel it's got a hammer then another thumb flip after that to insert a cartridge...single shot. it has a stamp on the stock of the gun by the butt of the gun with what looks like a lady riding a horse and in the circle of the stamp below there says "bayapo" or "bayaro"it's made by H.pieper..lige belgium..under the barrel there is a imprint in the metal with F 5894 it also has crowns on the side of the barrel with a R under it A's with a (*) above it on just about every metal part of the gun, can you tell me anything about this gun as how old it is ..if it is worth anything? or a web site to find out i am having no luck..thanks partner!

There's some data on Belgian proofmarks in this thread. You might be able to date it.

Figure out what you can and I'll try to look up the rest.

I'm afraid I can't tell you much about them. The rifle looks like it's in good shape. The combination of a spur trigger and a trigger guard on the pistol is unusual. I wonder if someone put a shotgun trigger guard on it after it left the factory?

I havent seen anything like your rifle but I think your pistol is a stevens because it has a lot of similarities to mine. Also mine has stamped on the right side of the barrel upside down:
J. STEVENS ARMS COMPANY.
CHICOPPE FALLS.MASS.U.S.A.

This would be your j & ch.

Mine is a .410 made in about 1930. I think they called the rifled pistols "off hand pistols"

I agree the trigger guard looks out of place.
