I Just Started Bear Baiting The Area I Am In Is Kind Of A High Black Spruce Forest And The Ground Is Like Tundra It Is Relly Moist And Squishy I Have Tried Using Bacon Fat Dog Food, Syrup, Popcorn, And Anis Oil About A Week Ago We Hung A Nasty Stink Bait And Still Have Had Nothing But Birds Bome In Each Of The Last Two Times We Checked It The Trail Timer Was Triped But No Bait Was Taken Does Anyone Else Have Any Pointers That Could Get The Bears In.
Thanks!!

It often takes some time to get them used to the new smells, give it more time. Relax it may take a while, but it will be worth the wait.

One thing you might try is Molasses the scent of it travels for miles in the heat of the day, if even one bear comes to the bait and gets it on his feet, he will make a food trail for other bears to backtrack on to find your bait site, sometime it take weeks before anything will come to a new site, be patient if there are bears around, they won't resist for too long before they have to come in for some free food, maybe try a honey burn, if it is legal where you are hunting, this will permeate the area with sweet smelling honey, I also mix molasses as well. Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

My brother does a lot of baiting and he swears by molasses, works every time for him. Patience...

Spread used fryolator oil all around the site - preferably from a seafood resturant.

How long has your bait station been there? I have noticed on another forum that the blackies have been taking their sweet old time this season, but some are getting hits after several weeks.
Have you found any sign in the area before putting the bait out?

Hi All,
I'm from Minnesnowta, and don't hunt up your way, but Bro' Bear has got the same habbits....
The Berry crop must be good up in AK. The bears here don't do much at the bait stations when the bear's natural foods are available.
That said, the trees your station is located in have a good and pungent scent themselves. So you might try using a scent generator.
I don't know how you've been placing your bait, but those here who have made less elaborate setups have done better than the others. Keep the bait up off the ground.
I use Raspberry oil in the scent generator. I also don't put out bait except when I'm there. Then I use Peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches (really) for bait. I also put out bait for the Ravens....Bears listen to the Raven Talk, and come looking for an easy meal.

The nice thing about using popcorn is you can cook it on site. It is easy to pack in a bag of kernels and when you cook it the smells carry for a long distance. Old fryer grease is perfect for cooking the stuff in.
What kind of bear sign have you noticed in the area? They do move a bit and like variety in their diet. If you can get an idea of where they have been travelling and what they have been eating you could find that your station may be out of the way for them.
