Could use some help here. I have purchased a custom built rifle with a stole panda action--Shillen barrel ----6mm Imp. --Jewel Trigger.---1-14 twist--ect. But have found I need 20 minute of angle in the scope mounts to be able to have the elevation I need to shoot at 800+ yds. The stole action has the dovetail built on the top of the action already ----- What can I do to achieve the 20 MOA with my scope and still have ring alignment? Is there any mounts available that will attach to the dovetail with the 20 MOA built in? The scope is a BSA Platinum --30MM tube- 10 to 50 power with a 60 MM objective-- 1/8 th MOA adj.
Any good advice out there. The only suggestion I have so far is to have the dovetail milled off to a flat surface by a machinist and the action drilled and tapped to accept a bar typ base mt with 20 MOA built in to accept my scope rings.
Is this the best answer?------ would appreciate any advise or Help???? Jer.

hi,what about a mount that will fit your action using the stock dovetails and is ramped to make up the 20moa.someone who is better in math than i would have to come up with the deg. for the ramp but there is a way to use what you have without cutting the top of your action.it would be fun to also try to make the base adjustable to eather fine tune the angle or to reset a zero, what is the recoil of this set up and what is the max height of the scope for you.

20' is a bunch! I'm unfamiliar with "stole panda" and I don't have a clue what the distance is between the rings, but...
The Burris Signature rings might do it for you. They're sometimes used for this. A Pos-Align Offset Insert kit will give you up to .020" lower at the front and .020" higher at the rear. I just did a quick calculation (law of similar triangles) that you need .021" to change 20MOA. 20MOA~=20" @100yards = 3600". The rings on my Mauser are 3.75" apart.
3.75/3600x20=.021
So, the Burris .010" eccentric offsets should do it for you. Nice thing about them is, they correct for misalignment of the rings. (They can only go into Burris Signature rings.) If you've ever used a self-aligning spherical bearing, they're the same principle. I've never used them in a heavy recoiling gun, so I can't speak to that.

Would somebody else check and verify my trigonometry? I don't want to lead t-bolt astray.

The Stolle Panda is a benchrest action. I'm sure you'll be able to find the scope mount you need if you start looking at some of the places that specialize in benchrest equipment.
www.sinclairintl.com is one place.

Barrett makes an adjustable ring set that should take care of your problem, depending on your dovetail spacing they can give you up to 60 moa. They're available on Barrett's web site for about $180. www.barrettrifles.com
another alternative would be to get a Nightforce NSX 5.5-22 56
scope, it has enough elevation to do what you need and optics that will simply blow you away!

Check out Precision Shooting Magazine back issues. There are alot of articles on scope mounts for various rifles for 1000 yd shooting. Stolle, Nesika and some of the other bench rest makers can probably point you in the right direction. A call to the offices of Precision Shooting Mag will probably help. They have a book for sale that might be of some use. It is called "Precision Shooting at 1000 yds". It covers all aspects of long range shooting including varmints, Palma, sniping etc., and gives info on optics and handloading for distance as well. Precision Shooting mag's number is (860)645-8776 and their web address is www.precisionshooting.com. For Stolle actions try Kelbly's Inc., 'cause they make the Stolle action. Phone number for them is (330)683-4674 or www.Kelbly.com. Hope this helps.
